WHAT EXACTLY IS THE LOCKER SENSOR?

The locker sensor that is included with the alarm system contains cutting edge

electronics that allow you to monitor the state of the locker. The alarm system is supplied with 5 sensors with the option to add more. While the alarm is ARMED,

if someone tries to gain entry by opening the locker, the siren will sound and you will receive a notification to your smart device.

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN A NEIGHBORING BOAT HAS ANGLER ARMOR...

The central processor will only receive communications from the sensors that are shipped with your alarm. So, while other sensors may be within range or even other Bluetooth© devices, the central processor ignores everything but your sensors.

WHAT IS SO SPECIAL ABOUT THE DESIGN?

Let's start by looking at the size and configuration of the locker sensor. The sensor itself is only 52mm in diameter and 12.55mm thick. It weighs in at a mere 30 grams and also carries a waterproof rating of IP67. The sensor is powered by a CR2477 Li/MnO2 battery which provides for long life operation. When it is time to change the battery, Angler Armor will send you a notification to remind you. Communications are carried out to the central processor via BLE© (Bluetooth Low Energy) and is secured with our proprietary software. You will notice that it is a one piece design, requires no wiring, no drilling, no pairing or programming of any kind. We took care of all of that for you! Simply apply the hook and loop fastener, pull the plastic tab to power it up and mount it in your locker. If you lose one or want to add another optional sensor, just go to the website and order it. We will send you a sensor that is already provisioned to work with your alarm.

JUST SAY NO TO MAGNETS!

Our overall design does not use magnets for many reasons. One of the biggest reasons is that magnetic switches are easily defeated. Doing a quick search on YouTube for "defeating magnetic door switch" will show you just how easy it is. Our chosen design is so unique that it could in fact be mounted using a magnet! Using a magnetic switch would also require a two piece design and potentially some wiring. We chose to avoid that scenario and give you a compact one piece design that is reliable, very easy to install and delivers a long battery life.

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN A NEIGHBORING BOAT HAS ANGLER ARMOR. WILL THEIR SENSOR INTERFERE WITH MY ALARM?

When your Angler Armor alarm is built, it is programmed to listen to specific sensors only. The central processor will only receive communications from the sensors that are shipped with your alarm. So, while other sensors may be within range or even other Bluetooth© devices, the central processor ignores everything but your sensors. This feature is how we avoid crosstalk or other nefarious activity. Angler Armor uses advanced methods to provide secure communications throughout the entire design.

WHAT ELSE DO I NEED TO KNOW?

The locker sensor is a very robust design that is intended to be very easy to install, reliable and secure. It really is as simple as mounting it inside the locker you choose and pulling the plastic tab to power it up. We are in the process of adding a motor sensor that will monitor your outboard for tilt. With theft on the rise, knowing when someone is raising the outboard to remove the gearcase is becoming increasingly important

NEXT TIME

Next time, we will take a closer look at the triggers and how they work so you understand what we mean when we say "a layered approach". Until next time, #hookacrook
